The cradle of skiing
Adventure yourself in one of the activities in contact with snow. You can ski surrounded by mountains covered with snow and so experience the energy that Val di Fassa gives off. Read All The valley also offers a lot of opportunities for cross-country skiers or for all of those who just want to relax and enjoy the silence. A true winter paradise for snowboarders too, who can boost their adrenaline in safety in one of the many snow parks on the slopes. The Val di Fassa can offer the many enthusiasts of this discipline an infinite range of off-piste routes, alternatives to the traditional ski pistes and surrounded by scenery with a thousand faces: woods, minor valleys and lonely peaks in the heart of the Dolomites. The choice is truly enormous, starting from the simplest routes right up to the most complex, in search of hidden corners of paradise, landscapes far from traditional routes. A close relationship with nature, the snow, the mountains, the sky, indescribable emotions after the effort. And for the competitive, two dates of international prestige: the "Polartec Pizolada delle Dolomiti" and the "Sellaronda Ski Marathon", around the four passes by night with seal skins and a torch on your forehead to challenge the snow. Val di Fassa offers the multitude of snowboard enthusiasts kilometres of pistes, as well as infinite areas of powder snow which are useable until late spring (Marmolada). Tracks through the fresh snow visible for days and days, loads of places to meet your friends and describe your latest incredible feats or evolutions, great music, and your eyes resting on the Dolomites. The telemark technique consists in putting the uphill ski ahead, assuming the typical "bent-on-the-knees" position, while the braking emulates that of Nordic ski jumpers. Experts say that the free hill technique conveys a greater degree of freedom of movement even while climbing; in addition, the typical telemark turn gives greater safety in case of fresh or deep snow or steep downhill stretch. However, the charm of this discipline that recalls past times is unique and is real fun! In Val di Fassa you will have lots of possibilities to practice this discipline and you will find several places where to rent the equipment necessary. The Marcialonga of Fiemme and Fassa has allowed Val di Fassa to develop and consolidate its own traditions in cross-country skiing too. Every resort village along the prestigious route has provided cross-country tracks or circuits, even using programmed snow facilities, which make the complete package provided for enthusiasts of this sport extremely attractive. .
